Every now and again, fastfood collectibles come up with something uniquely useable that franchise fan wouldn't mind having. Jollibee is carrying this nifty looking Man of Steel tumbler, which actually caught my eye as Mel and I were enjoying our ChickenJoy.
The metal on this thing is a little thin, but that makes it light. You're supposed to carry it with you hence the clasp. You can bring it with you biking or whatever athletic people do these days. It seals up nicely and it looks pretty neat. The Superman logo doesn't rub off easily because I tried it and it's stuck there, even after cleaning it a couple times. Best part is, it's cheap and it comes with food.
If you want one, all you have to do is pony up an additional Php 50.00 along with every order of Jollibee Burger or Sandwich Value Meal.
Oh here's a little bit of trivia that is explored in the movie. The S shield on the tumbler isn't actually an S and does not stand for "Superman." Krypton's language is not like ours so having similar writing systems wouldn't be too far fetched. What that symbol stands for is actually the notion of hope. It makes sense as Supes was sent from a dying planet as the last son of Krypton.
Hope. Every time I write about an advocacy of some kind, and I say "be a superhero," I always picture Superman in my head. Just by the mere mention of the word "super hero," you'd be lying if you tell me that the first image that popped up in your head wasn't a guy in a red cape and blue tights.
That's the message that Jollibee wants to spread around - hope. They believe that kids, with their many diverse talents are true superheroes in their own right. Growing up, I never really had a talent so I guess I'm one of the few non-Superman kids.
Besides the tumbler, they have a bunch of other Superman toys that come with their meals. There are 3 more, I think. So if you're so included, head on over to your nearest Jollibee and get yourself some Man of Steel goodies.
