Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have officially unveiled Shadow of the Tomb Raider! Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third installment in the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise that started in 2013. The first two games were terrific, so this one has some big shoes to fill. This announcement comes with a brand new trailer!
That's gorgeous. I remember trying to run Rise of the Tomb Raider on my GTX 1080 and I was barely reach 60 in some really busy areas with all the options turned on.
The game is going to launch on September 14, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam.
The synopsis of the game reads:
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is going to find herself in the Mayan jungle, where she'll most likely have to raid some tombs, which was always the best part of these games. Not only that, though, she'll also have to overcome and power through her darkest hour as she tries to save the world from the Mayan apocalypse. I bet there's some (wo)man VS self themes here. They're going to be tackling all that indiscriminate killing now.
Camilla Luddington, the voice of Lara Croft herself from the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot is going to be making her return, which is damn good news.
“Thanks to their incredible expertise, knowledge of the franchise and outstanding creativity, Eidos-Montréal, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, is delivering a powerful experience with Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” said Yosuke Matsuda, president and representative director of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. “Shadow of the Tomb Raider will take the series to new heights and Lara Croft to new depths.”
“Shadow of the Tomb Raider will challenge Lara Croft in new and unexpected ways,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio at Eidos-Montréal. “Our team has created a diverse set of skills, combat techniques and equipment for players to master, and they’ll certainly need them if they hope to survive the deadly jungle environments and tombs.”
You can get early access to the game if you pre-order the Croft or Ultimate Editions from selected retailers in South East Asia. In the Philippines, that's likely Datablitz or iTech or GameOne. Digital Pre-Orders start May 1!
