3) Simon Pegg as Benji
Simon Pegg is arguably one of the best comedians of our generation. In Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and now this, he never fails to incite laughter from the audience with his lines and facial expressions. He brings the character of Benji to perfection – a geeky, frantic, and indispensable asset in Ethan’s team. Expect him to become a staple in the next Mission Impossible movies.
4) Paula Patton as Jane
Honestly, is she for real? Jane has got to be the hottest female spy I have ever seen! There were a few seconds in the film when I honestly zoned out and just stared like some crazy fan boy. Whether she’s sporting plain clothes, corporate attire or an elegant dress, she never ceases to look amazing. Look no further for killer looks with killer moves. Paula Patton makes it look all so easy, and I’m sure after this, filmmakers will find it an easy decision to get her for their next big projects.
5) Scenery
It seems they really took the time and effort to go around the world for the shoot. Scenery-wise, the film is such a great watch that it’s like your sight-seeing and visiting all of these wonderful places while comfortably relaxing on your movie chair and eating your tub of popcorn. You can find out the locations for yourselves when you watch it (I just know you will), but aside from serving as backdrops for the adventure, I found it amusing that they were also used to divide the film into chapters.
6) Excellent Humor
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol features hands down, brilliant comedy –and it’s not even a comedy flick. Seriously, this puts Knight and Day to shame. Scriptwriters wrote the funniest lines and the actors delivered them with so much talent. Benji and Brandt were the main sources of laughter. The film proves that adding humor to an action movie doesn’t make it less of an action movie. In fact, it makes it become a greater one.
7) Gadgets Galore
Cool gadget here, cool gadget there, cool gadgets everywhere! Coming into a Mission Impossible movie, you expect state-of-the-art technology being used in the most unique and outrageous ways. The film delivers really well on this expectation. Of course, you have to believe first that these things work and are plausible in order to enjoy this aspect of the production. No problem with that!
8) Intense Action
Guns, explosions, car chases, fist fights and nerve-wracking situations --- these are what Mission Impossible is all about. Spanning more than two hours, Ghost Protocol is able to dish out a generous amount of action sequences, and they don’t seem forced or just plain fan service.
9) Opening Sequence
Just hearing a few seconds of the familiar music theme is exciting already. The opening credits are probably the best one I’ve seen for a long time – it gets you into the mission mood already and gives you a sneak peak on what’s to come.
10) The End
Don’t worry, I won’t spoil this. Just know that it’s a great ending for a great film.
The Verdict: Your mission... should you choose to accept it...
HECK YEAH, I ACCEPT IT! I ACCEPT IT!
