Handheld gaming with the Nintendo Switch is amazing. The power the Switch packs in such a small form factor is quite impressive. Unfortunately, the major downside to the Switch is how uncomfortable and how unergonomic the Joy-Cons are to use, especially for people like me who have weirdly uncoordinated hands. To address that, gaming accessory companies have come out with peripherals that can replace the Joy-Cons for handheld gaming, but a lot of them can't be used wirelessly.
Thankfully, Omelet Gaming has come out with Joy-Con replacement controllers that address every single issue I had with both the regular Joy-Cons and other Joy-Con replacements. Introducing the Omelet Gaming Wireless Gaming Controllers.
Before I get to the quick review, I wanna let you know that we're giving the white pair away! To find out how to join, watch the video below:
Here's a quick rundown of all its positives:
- Ergonomic design
- RGB if you're into that
- Back paddles for face button mapping
- Turbo function should you need it
- Vibration adjustment
- Can be used wirelessly
- Can wake up the Switch from sleep
- Gyro aiming
- Good sticks and d-pad
- Pairing it with the Switch was a breeze
- Can be charged on the Switch itself or other Joy-Con charging docks that can accommodate its size
And here's a short list of some things that could be improved in the future, which are mostly nitpicks, since there's really not much to fault about the controllers themselves.
- The translation on the instruction manual is very hard to understand
- Face buttons could be closer to the body, to make it feel a little more premium
- When set to max, the rumble is very loud
If you want to get one for yourself, they're easily available at pretty much every major DataBlitz in the country. They cost ₱2,250. If you're not from the Philippines, you can check out their Shopee page or drop them a message on Facebook. I think they used to be available on Amazon, too, but I couldn't find them anymore.
