In 2019, the first-ever inductee into the iconic Comic-Con Character Hall of Fame was Batman - arguably a fine choice as the first inductee. I mean, it should've been Superman but Bats is fine. This year, Batman is joined by his teammate, a member of the Justice League Big 3, and fellow DC Comics character, Wonder Woman! It nicely coincides with the 80th anniversary of Wonder Woman's first-ever appearance in a comic book publication.
Created by William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter, and first appearing in All Star Comics #8 in 1941, Wonder Woman blazed the trail for other female superheroes in what was traditionally a male-dominated genre. I guess it still is in a way, but however much it has grown, Wonder Woman can be seen at the very forefront of that growth.
On October 21, 2021, Wonder Woman will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a virtual ceremony over at the Comic-Con Museum YouTube channel. In celebration, DC is going to honor Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary and her impact across comics, film, cartoons, and TV with a whole slew of books, partnerships, and merch!
