Elevator Joe is simple enough to learn. The objective of the game is to get the building visitors to the floors they want, but the problem is there are a lot of them and you only have your shift to make sure everyone gets to their floor happy. To do so is simple, you tap the floor and Joe will mosey on over to drop off and pick up as many people his little elevator car can hold. If you make them wait too long before getting picked up or if they stay too long in your elevator, they start to get pissed off and your satisfaction rating goes down.
Scalability
To pass, you just have to complete your day's quota. Don't do that and you fail. Losing means not earning any chibi yens, which you use to purchase things to improve your game. You can get boosters like an increase in max cab capacity, extended time, double chibi yens per game, or even be a VIP magnet, which nets you even more chibi coins because in this world, people tip the elevator guy it seems. You can also get permanent upgrades like skill points to improve the capacity of your elevator cab, the speed and some extras. You can get new floors, new shops, and just a whole buttload of upgrades.
Addictiveness
And the appeal to pimp your tower and elevator cab out to the max is a compelling. Getting the elusive 100% is a reason enough to keep at it. Plus there's a quirkiness that I love about it. There are multiple scenarios that play out ranging from alien landings on Joe's building and a huge Godzilla-like creature rampaging through the city. Plus, if you're quick, you can spot a few very familiar elevator passengers, some of which have super powers that allow them to not need an elevator but I guess they just want to mess with Joe. Spotting them is half the fun, for serious.
Elevator Joe is FREE, and you can get it on iOS and Android. There don't seem to be any in-app purchases for real money. At least, not for now.
I have wasted many a minute on Elevator Joe while waiting for meetings, so yeah. Go download it.
