Mark Millar, the guy who brought you Marvel's Civil War. Kick Ass and some of the best bits of Marvel's Ultimate universe, has found a clever way to drive up sales for his latest piece of work - Supercrooks.

"WIN MARK MILLAR!
This week you can win Mark Millar for a free signing at your comic store – wherever you are in the world!
The retailer who orders the most copies of Mark Millar and Leinil Yu’s upcoming release “Supercrooks” #1 will win the award-winning writer for an afternoon signing at their store. Mark will cover all his own flights and expenses; all you have to do is place the biggest order before Monday 27th February! The winner will be announced on CBR as soon as the Final Order Cut-Off window closes."
That's a fairly brilliant idea, especially since Filipino fans are so goddamned rabid.
According to Mark Millar's twitter account, a store in Manila is the one to beat.

We've got a couple more days before we find out who wins, or even which retailer that would be in the Philippines. I have a few guesses as to who the Philippine retailer is, but can't be certain. What worries me is that this is essentially an "I have more money" contest. Any retailer from the US or any developed country looking for a nice marketing campaign can easily pour some money into this and win.
I wonder if a corporation as big as Fully Booked would be interested in partnering up with multiple single issue retailers in the country to pool resources and ensure Mr. Millar flies here. Besides, Supercrooks is being penciled by our very own Leinil Yu. It's only right that he comes here!
UPDATE: The Philippines WON! National Book Store placed the largest order for Supercrooks #1. This is pretty huge, because National Book Store does not sell single issues. Or at least, they don't sell any of the current ones. I guess this is a good promotional move for them considering Fully Booked is bringing David Finch.
