His face isn’t all that great. Saying he’s no pretty boy, even though he kinda should be, is a bit of an understatement. He’s got a strong Captain America-y jaw, though, which wasn’t present in the MU version.
I love the sculpted hands, they’re nice.
Paint
This is the most unfortunate flaw of this line. You’d be hard pressed to find a figure with good paint. Heck, even finding one at acceptable levels of paint was a huge pain in the ass. The trouble areas would be everywhere two colors meet. So, the stripes, the belt buckle, the star, the A, the shirt and the face. That blows because I’m extremely particular about the paint on the face.
If you do find one with good apps, you’d find that the shade Cap is painted with is very nice. That’s the kind of blue you’d expect Cap to sport, yes?
Articulation
Despite the fact that the MU 2-pack Captain America was a lot more poseable and probably funner to play with, I’d say it’s not such a bad trade off if you plan to stand Cap like the bad ass soldier he was meant to be instead of a dynamic action pose.
He has a ball joint neck, swivel hinge shoulder, rotating hinge elbow, rotating chest, hinge swivel hips, double joined knees and a hinged rotating ankle.
He’s poseable, but just not as fun as other figures.
Accessories
Let’s try to forget he came with that cannon the Hypervelocity armor came with, even though that thing does actually fire pretty nicely. Instead, let’s focus on that magnificent shield. Look at that beauty!
It just speaks to you! It’s shiny, the shape is perfect, the size is great and it just looks supremely bad ass. Cap can hold it much easier because it has two options for carrying - the clip and the handle. The clip fits very snuggly onto his wrist, giving him that look when he carries it with the straps. The handle can be used for a lot of different things, like holding the shield in front of him while his arms are extended. You can also use that handle as a peg, which plugs into the hole in his back.
It’s just insanely good.
Last Thoughts
The plastic is nice and rigid, not flimsy at all. I’d say the build quality is quite good. If you’re going to pick up a classic Cap, this really should be your “default” one.
