We're all speculating that someone's going to kick the bucket after the next couple Avengers movies. I mean, these actors are getting older and other projects need a-doing. A lot of theories are floating around the internet, but here's my take on it. To find out who is likely to die at the end of Avengers Infinity War, all you have to do is look at whose contracts are up after the films.
Robert Downey, Jr.'s contract ends until Avengers 4. Though he's been doing a per-movie kind of deal, no word is out on any other movie he'll appear in. The kid from Iron Man 3, Ty Simpkins, is slated for an appearance in Avengers Infinity War, so will he be the Iron Lad? A quick look at his IMDB page reveals that he will be appearing in an unnamed Avengers 4 movie in 2019.
Will he die? Yes, likely.
Chris Evans' contract also ends after Avengers 4, and he has said he wanted to stay away from superhero acting and focus on directing. However, Sebastian Stan has a 9 film deal, and he's only done 3 so far - Captain America: First Avenger, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War. After Avengers 3 and 4, he'll still have 4 films.
Will he die? Yes, likely.
Chris Hemsworth contract also ends after Avengers 4. At least, he's only confirmed for 3 movies - Ragnarok, Avengers 3 and Avengers 4. Will we see a female Thor in the form of Jane, like in the comics?
Will he die? No, but I doubt he'd probably fly off into space to rebuild Asgard or something.
Mark Ruffalo has a 6 movie deal with Marvel - that would be Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Thor: Ragnarok. If you don't count cameos and shorts (Iron Man 3 after-credits scene and his YouTube-only short with Chris Hemsworth to promote Ragnarok (or Civil War, I guess), then he should still have 3 movies - if you add in Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4, he will still have 1 left. He's safe.
Will he die? No.
Anthony Mackie and Chris Pratt both have an undisclosed multi-picture deal with Marvel. Seeing as there's a 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy planned out, Star-Lord is likely to live through Infinity War. The same can be said about the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy. There is Drax, though, played by Dave Batista, whose sole mission in life is to kill Thanos. Who knows where he'll end up after Infinity War wraps up. Falcon, on the other hand, could take up the Captain America mantle, that's totally possible but Falcon isn't that big of a character so he falls under the human and expendable category, as well.
Will they die? Guardians - no. Falcon - yeah, possibly.
As for Elizabeth Olsen, we know she's going to show up in Avengers: Infinity War, but not much else. And unless Marvel has any plans of doing a House of M movie (which would be AWESOME but unlikely), I just don't see what else they could do with the character. Her brother is already dead, so I don't think it makes sense to keep her around for much longer.
Will she die? Yeah.
In the same vein, it doesn't seem like Vision's going to be around for much longer either. Paul Bettany only has 1 movie left in his contract - Avengers: Infinity War. Bye, Vision!
Will he die? LOL yes.
Scarlett Johansson deals movie to movie, much like Robert Downey, Jr. After Avengers 4, there is no word on her contract just yet. Will Black Widow kick the bucket in Avengers 3 or 4? You know what - that might happen. She's human and expendable.
Will she die? No, I doubt it but I wouldn't put it past Marvel to kill her off.
Jeremy Renner has a 4 movie contract and he's done 3 so far - Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War. He is said to have 1 solo Hawkeye film supposedly in his contract but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. If the trailers are to be believed, he's looking to sit out the Infinity War movies.
Will he die? No, he isn't even in the movie as far as we know.
We know War Machine is going to appear in Infinity War - he's seen flying in alongside Cap and Bucky, but Don Cheadle's contract with Marvel isn't really public knowledge. He may be dealing with it on a per-movie basis much like Scarlett Johansson and RDJ. If Rhodey doesn't get killed, it wouldn't be the first time they've recast the character, so I don't think Colonel James Rhodes dies.
Will he die? Since he was the casualty in the last movie, I doubt he'd get killed off.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man is going to see another stand-alone Spider-Man film, so for sure he's safe. Besides, do you think Sony, who owns the rights to Spider-Man movies, would allow for their cash cow to be killed off? Nah.
Will he die? LOL no
Benedict Cumberbatch's last confirmed movie is Infinity War, but I don't think he'll be killed off. Probably going to cameo in a lot of future Marvel films, though, much like the comic book Dr. Strange.
Will he die? Nah.
Chadwick Boseman is too cool to be killed off. Wouldn't matter if he had a negative number of movies left, he'd live through Infinity War.
Will he die? Of course not. I mean, he's got a sequel planned, too, right?
